Second Announcement Program Call for Abstracts

5th International Conference on Magnetic Resonance Microscopy

German Cancer Research Center,   Heidelberg,  Sept. 5 - 9, 1999

Venue:

The 5th Meeting in the biannual series of international conferences on Magnetic Resonance Microscopy (ICMRM) will be held in the romantic city of Heidelberg in southern Germany. The German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ) will provide modern facilities, including a 300-seat auditorium with an attractive foyer and adjacent seminar rooms for Posters and exhibitions by MR vendors.

Scope:

The multidisciplinary conference provides a congenial forum for discussion of the most recent advances in NMR and EPR techniques for imaging and localized spectroscopy and their applications in fields ranging from biology and medicine to materials sciences at spatial resolutions ranging from microns to centimeters.

The preliminary program has been drawn up by Axel Haase and Robert Botto as coordinators for the Division of Spatially Resolved Magnetic Resonance, Groupment Ampère. The meeting will begin with a one-day educational program, followed by a 3½-day scientific program composed of alternating oral and poster sessions. Commercial MR vendors are also cordially invited to display and demonstrate their newest advances in MR instrumentation and techniques. Of course, there will also be time for cultural activities and a conference banquet.

This year's program is augmented by a Young Investigators Symposium.

 

Additional Activities planned:

Monday Evening: Committee Meeting, Piano Music (W.E. Hull), Wine tasting

Wednesday Afternoon/Evening: Tour of Heidelberg Castle and Apothecary Museum
Conference Banquet in the King's Hall of the Castle

The Internet and E-mail facilities of the Local Organizer will be used as much as possible for distribution of detailed information, for registration and submission of Abstracts (see below). The conference Website will be extended and updated as organization progresses and will provide the 1st and 2nd Circulars, Program Info, Guidelines for Abstracts, Hotel Info, Registration Forms, links to Heidelberg sites, etc.To receive specific information or forms via E-mail, send a short message to the Local Organizer and use the appropriate specific Subject to trigger the desired response (see Table below).

Pre-registration:

All persons interested in the conference are asked to fill out a pre-registration form at their earliest convenience; this provides address information for our data bank and simplifies the final registration procedure. You will then receive all subsequent announcements and forms automatically.

Abstracts:

Additional contributed papers will be selected for oral (ca. 20) or poster presentation by the Program Committee on the basis of camera-ready Abstracts submitted to the Local Organizer. Contributed papers: one page (DIN A4 or Letter), concise but detailed description of the work (purpose, methods, results, conclusions, references). Invited papers: max. two pages. Young Investigators Competition: a standard one-page Abstract and an extended Abstract (max. 3 pages including Figures) with cover letter concerning candidate's qualifications (see Guidelines).

Final Registration:

For selection of hotel accommodations and for payment of conference fees, please use the Final Registration Form available  from the Local Organizer via Internet or E-mail (see above).
