Abstract Guidelines

Standard Abstract: For contributed papers a one-page (DIN A4 or Letter size) Abstract is required with the following contents:

Title (min. 12 pt font, bold)
Authors (Full names, presenting Author in bold face, min. 10 pt font)
Affiliations (Institution, City, Country) (min. 10 pt font)

Text (min. 10 pt font): Introduction or Purpose, Methods, Results, Discussion, Conclusions
References (min. 8 pt font): Lastname, Initials (max. 3), et al., Journal Vol., pages (year).

Please allow 2 cm margins on all sides.

A separate extended literature list (Full Authors, Title, Source) may be submitted (preferrably as a Word .doc file) for inclusion in our Website.

 

Invited Lectures: Abstract as above but up to two pages allowed.

 

Young Investigators Award: Candidates for this special oral symposium must be enrolled in bone fide undergraduate (diploma) or graduate studies (M.Sc, Ph.D., etc.) or employed as a postdoctoral fellow at a qualified research institution. A Standard Abstract (see above) and an Extended Abstract, which may be up to three pages including Figures, should be submitted, and an accompanying letter from the candidate's supervisor confirming his or her employment status and role in the research project is required.

Abstracts should be sent to the Local Organizer

 

Electronic Submission: in addition to a hard copy, electronic submissions are desired, e.g., as E-mail attachment: basic mime, uuencoded, or binhex (see Abstract Guidelines). We can handle MS-Word files up to version 97 (PC or Mac) and hopefully convert Word-Perfect files. Graphic formats which can be easily handled are: wmf, tif, gif, jpeg, eps; and WinZip 7.0 is available to handle compressed .zip files.

Abstract Review: All Abstracts will be reviewed by members of the Program Committee, and on the basis of topic, content and quality a limited number of papers (ca. 20) will be selected for oral presentation, and all others will be considered for poster presentation.
