MRM Image Beauty Contest - Call for Images

Do you have miscellaneous MR images that simply look beautiful? As student, lecturer, or coworker in a lab you probably made some MR images just to learn about or show the potential of the MRI technique. Usually these images are of no further interest except of maybe sticking them to the wall. Here is your chance to share your satisfaction and enjoyment with the community.

The Entrant Eligibility:

The Contest is open to all registered attendees of the ICMRM 9th Conference. One attendee can submit no more than two entries.

The Entry Eligibility:

The image/images must be the personal work of the individual entrants. We strongly encourage the entries from the students. Since this is a microscopy MRI contest the images need to be high resolution and reveal some detailed features of the object. Images from whole-body MRI scanners are not eligible.

The Entry Procedure:

Fill the Entry Information Form and mail it together with the image/images until August 27th to  (see the email address in the Information Form File)

 (1) The Image Format: Each Entry can have one image or a group of images. An image cannot be manually altered at individual pixel level. Scale each Entry to A4 paper or letter size, color or gray scale. No logo / letter / word / title / explanation / name / institution is permitted – just the pure image. The image must be anonymous.

 (2) The Entry Information Form: Each Entry must be assigned to the completely filled Entry Information Form.

 (3) The Digital File of the Entry: The digital file of the entry image needs to be readable by Adobe Photoshop.

The Ownership of the Entry:

You must own all rights of the Entry. The Organizers of this Contest and the Conference may use your Entry for any related print/web publication/presentation.

The Judgment Criterion:

All images will be judged by a jury based on their artistic quality (signal-to-noise ratio, image resolution, novelty, uniqueness …) and prizes will be awarded at the conference dinner.

Young investigators

Young investigators oral presentation:

A jury will selected oral presentation from the submitted contribution the selected procedure will be closed by the 31st of July 2007.

Conference Dinner

ICMRM & CMMR:

The Colloquium on Mobile Resonance (CMMR) is an annual meeting, which has evolved over the past yeras from a workshop style to an international conference. In 2006 it had status of "specialized Colloque Ampere". The objectives of the CMMR are:

  • to communicate progress, developments and applications of Mobile Magnetic Resonance (NMR, EPR and NQR),
  • to promote hands-on understanding in the form of educational lectures and practical sessions on such mobile equipment.

The International Conference on Magnetic Resonance Microscopy has started in 1991 in Heidelberg. Knows as the "Heidelberg Conference", it is the biannual conference of the Divission of Spatially Resolve Magnetic Resonance of the Ampere Society. It is the international meeting for dissemination of all developments in non-clinical magnetic resonance methods and application related to NMR and EPR with spatial resolution, that is imaging and flow NMR. The ICMRM alternates with the International Conference on Magnetic Resonance in Porous Media (ICMRPM) in subsequent years.

So far, the following invited speakres have confirmed their participation:

  • P. Callaghan, Wellington
  • L. Ciobanu, Columbus
  • S. Codd, Bozeman
  • E. Fukushima, Albuquerque
  • S. Han, Santa Barbara
  • I. Koptyug, Novosibirsk
  • J. Reimer, Berkely

Sarah Codd and Joe Seymour will approach most of the invited lectures and selected contributed lecturers individually to contribute to a new edition of the microscopy book: S. Codd, J. Seymour, eds, Advances in Spatially Resolvec Magnetic Resonance, Wiley-VCH, 2008. Please consider contacting Sarah or Joe directly if you want to submit an article (scodd (at) coe.montana.edu).
